Present raiayor 'Miley; ~tq Councilmen Applewhite, Bergner, Blake, Gregg, Tayler, ~~enner; absent none. The minutes of previous meetings ti~rere read and approved as read. The regular order of business was suspended and CT. I,I. Roberts, attorney, Medford, representing Dr, ~xd. J. Crandall, addressed the Council and spoke on the addenda to the lease of the hospital between bliss Ardath Losher arld the City of ~ishland. He stated that according to the terms of t~~e gift of the hospital from Jesse ~7inburn to the City of Ashland, the addenda to the lease wliicl~i~ad been recently approvea by the Council, was illegal and could be set aside acid asked that the sarile be rescinded. After con- siderable discussion, it was moved by Blake and seconded by Applewhite that the add- enda be rescinded. Roll call was ordered, the vote being; Ayes-Applewhite, Bergner, Blake, Tayler, Nays-Gregg, ~lenner. Carried. Regular order of vusiness eras then resumed. 1}lonthly reports of the tidater and Light Departments and City Recorder for the month of October were read, accepted and ordered placed on file. Seconded by Apple- white, carried. ~e,< In order to pay i'or this X-Ray it was moved by Bergner that the X2005.14 be trans- (erred from the Light Fund as a temporary loan to the Hospital Fund. Seconded by '~~enner, carried. %ioved by Bergner that the City Attorney see about accident insurance for the hospital on account of the X-Ray and report back. Seconded by Ta~Tler, carried. The necessity for a correction in the deed to the property belonging to Ira Reeder was brought up. I~~oved by Blare that the deep be corrected. Seconded by Applewhite, carried. The following applications for building permits were read: Igo. 13, l~~irs. L. R. Coombs to re-shingle roof of blouse located at 79 Scenic Drive at an r approximate cast of ~~125.00. No. 14, Clyde G. Young to remodel house at 212 Vista Street at an approximate cost of *s ~ w600.00. P~loved by ~lenner and seconded by Gregg ti~at the applications be granted, carried. ~y The State of Oregon having requested that all building permit fees be waived on houses now being repaired belonging to the '~~orld '~~~ar Veteran's State~Aid Commission and located at 248 Laurel, 36 l;Iorton, 518 Iowa, 31 Gresham, 449 Euclid and 355 B Streets. It was moved by Tayler that the perits be granted and the fees waived. Seconded by Applewhite, carried. A letter from `r°dm. H. Day, 79 Baum Street concerning the boundary line of his place along Pine Street was read and referred to the City Engineer. The request of Idirs. S. B. Fovrler, 6 Beech Avenue to have X1.00 in penalties remitt- ed and I~Irs. Ethel ',"dalterrlire to have deposit for light and grater vraived was upon motion, by ~~~enner, seconded by Tayler. Granted. Request for free light and grater for a family named Schrader at 259 B Street, was t~ upon motion by ~~~enner, seconded by Blake, carried. Same to be effective to January 1, 1935. Committee Reports: Fire: Tayler reported that the bid on fire hose showed .the lo~rest bid to be from ~ the How rd Cooper Corporation of 22 inch at X1.30 per foot and 12 inch at .73~ per foot. D~Ioved by Tayler that the City purchase 200 feet of the 2~ inch and 100 feet of the 12 inch hose at the above prices. Seconded by ~~lenner, carried.. Street:It was reported that Dirs. Go~fre~r on Grandview Drive would accept any reasonable payment for trig tree remove, and it was decidea to offer her X35.00 provided she would pay the balance on her water bill. 3 proposed ordinance correctinb ordinance Igo. 932 concerning the levying of special benefit assessments on what is known as Sewer District ITo. 38 was read. Moved by Tayler that the rules be suspended and the ordinance be passed to the second reading by title only. Seconded by Blake, carried. Having been read the second time by title only, it was moved by Blake that the ordinance be adopted as read. Seconded by Applewhite. Roll call was ordered on its adoption, the vote being, Ayes 6, Nays 0. Carried. Thereupon the luayor declared City Ordinance Igo. 935 adopted. On account of the delay in completing the accounting system and the approach of the new year, it was moved that the City Attorney sire the firr,~ of Lybrand, Rass Bros, and Itiontgomery, Portland, Oregon to imr~lediately go thru with the contract and start not later than November 28, 1934 and if not the contract to be forfeited. The motion made by Bergner, seconded by Tayler. Carried, The Goundil then proceeded to canvas the returns of the election, in accordance with the laws in such cases made and provided.
