A bill for133.42 for travel expenses for the Mayor, mearbers of the council and
r others to Portland and Salem during the period from Jan. 16 to 19th was read. Moved by
Blake that the bill be allowed. Seconded by Gregg. Carried.
On motion, the council adjourned to meet at the as 11 of the Mayor.

The council met in regular session at 7;30 P. M. this date. Present: Mayor Wiley,
~_._l Councilmen Applewhite, Blake, Gregg, Hansen, Wenner. Absent: Ingle.
The minutes of the previous meertings were read and approved as read.
Annual reports of the Librarian and Water Departments were read, accepted and ordered
placed on file.
The hour of eight having arrived, the Mayor announced that bids on the rater pipes,
hydrants, valves and Yittings for the Boulevard and Lincoln Street pipe lines would be opened. The bids were opened and since same had been checked by
the dater Committee, it
Ras moved by Applewhite and seconded by Blake that they be referred to the dater Committee

The reading of annual reports was resumed. Annu81 reports of the bight, Fire, o ice
Department and Recorder and the monthly report of the Dump Ground were read, accepted and
ordered planed on file.
Bills amounting to X7299.96 were read as to total amount only, same having been oked
by the heads of the various eommi~tees and the Fina~uce Committee. Moved by Applewhite and
z seconded by Hansen that the bills be approved for payment. Roll call was ordered, the vote
being Ayes 5, Nays 0. Carried.
A letter from G. M. Frost recommending the canellation of interest charges against Charles Mack, provided hepaid his cemetery account up in full, was
read. Moved by Wenner
and seconded by Gregg that.- the recommendation be approved. Carried.
A letter from E. C. Biegel, Supt. Electric Department requesting authority to pur-
chase an induction regulator for the city sub-station was read, the estimated price being
X1500.00, and competitive bids being called for. Moved by `~denner and seconded by Blake
that the authority be approved. Carried.
The City Attorney brought up the question of assisting the Southern Oregon formal
Sehovl to attend the National Basket Ball Tournament at Denver, Colorado to the extent of
X200.00. Moved by Wenner that the City give X200.00 to send the team to the tournament.
Seconded. Roll call was ordered, the vote being, Ayes 5, Nays 0. Carried.
Committee Reports:
Hos ital: Gregg reported tha t a laboratory technician wanted to come to the local
hospi a and same was agreeable to the Hospital Staff : it being recommended that the
City fia up theplumi~ing for the laboratory to the extent of X30°.QO. gloved by Gregg that
the City authorize the expenditure of X30.00 for this purpose. Seconded by Hessen. Carried.
The City Attorney read a proposed ordinance on the vacation of property belonging
tv C. I. J. Porter and others on Skidmore Street. Moved by Gregg that the rules be suspend- ed and the ordinance passed tp the second reading by title
only. Seconded by Blak e. Carried.
~~E Having been read the second time by title, it was moved by Wenner that the ordinance be
adopted as read. Seconded by Gregg. Roll call was ordered on its adoption, the vote being
~r Ayes 5, Nays 0. Carried. Thereupon the Mayor declared the City Ordinance No. 941 adopted.
~3~~~ The recent tractor demonstration was discussed by Applewhite and Biegel. Moved by
Applewhite that the City call for bids and specifications on four types of tractors and
complete equipment, same to be submitted in time to b e opened at 8~P.rM~~•Feb. 19, 1935, the neat regular meeting date of the council. Seconded by

The City Attorney brought up the question of allowing the Boy Scouts to use the coun-
eil chambers regularly on the first and third Thursdays of each month provided same i
} not interfere with any special council meeting. The request was made upon the suggestion t~ that .:the request be a roved. Carried.

The neeesstty of instituting vacation proceedings on a portion of land ad~aining the
Ira Reeder property at 85 Second Street was discussed. Moved by Wenner that the hearing of
the proceedings be set for February 19, 1935. Seconded by Blake. Carried.
