Present: Mayor ti~iley, f3~ Councilmen kpplewhite, Blake, Hansen, Ingle, ~"~'enner• Absent: Councilman Gregg (Gregg came in later. ~ b~inutes of the previous meetin~~s were read and approved as read. ~gonthly reports of the Library, Light, 6'~ater and Street Departments were read, accepted and ordered placed on file. A bill for telegrams from the ~~estern Union for X7.99 was read. I~aoved by ~'°~enner that the bill be allowed. Seconded by Hansen. Carried. The annual meeting of the League of Oregon Cities was brought up. Moved b y Applewhite that a delegation of city officials attend this meeting of the League to be held at F,ugene on :arch 25th and 26th. Secondea by I?~~nsen. Carried. Committee Reports; Water: Biegel reported that ~n'rs. Rowley heel received insurance from her house which b ru ned down and had bought another house, but was still receiving free wood from the city. Fenner suggested that the City Superintendent interviev~r her regarding this report. Ingle stated that an inquiry had been made regarding the piping of lithia water to the new super-service Gtution. t~"cued boy Fenner trat the Natter be referred to the eater Committee for further investigation especially the Ashland Llotel's clai►n for permanent water rights. Seconded by Applewhite. Carried. ~f The matter of C. A. White `s request for city ~~~ater service was discusses. ~~oved by Ingle that N'hi~~e either pay for the entire service cost from our line or else get water from the Bellview Co-operative Y~ater Association. Seconded by Benner. Carried. ~~oved by Ingle that the City go on record ~1s not favoring the selling of stumpage on the Ashland Creek ~~dater Shed land to l.~s. Goggins or, other prospective buyers. Seconded by ~denner. Carried. Air Port; Applewhite stated. that the Perk Commission ~}~as divided on making a pro~eet of transfering the pheasant pens to the Air Port land, and some d~.scussion followed, but no action taken. S ecia~l.: Applewhite mentioned that a government survey was being made of all . cities, including inventories of properties, etc. and that some cities hGd tried to prevent the government from getting these facts. ~.Aoved by Applewhite that the City Attorney contact Harold Csray, local representative at ~.~edford before the surve„° ~f r Ashland was made. Seconded by Hansen. Carried. t~~ Riegel stated th~~~t the lar~p contract expired this month and sag€ested same be referred to the Light Committee. :~~oved b y Ing°le that the matter of awarding contracts for lamps be referred to the Light Committee with pov~er to ~:ct. Seconded by Hansen. Carried. Councilman Gregg enterea and took his seat at this paint. k~ , An ordinance regarding criminal syndicalism was read, but no action taken. The City Attorney reported on Airs. Ramsey`s case. ~~3oved by Wenner that the City Attorney be instructed to complete the transaction ~~rith I'rs. Ramsey and pay for the ~ abstract costing X30.00 for the land involved as required by the ~iOLC. Seconaed by Blake. Carried. Certain parts of the minutes of r'eb. 19th concerning bids for printing were ordered expungea from the records. A petition regarding vacating of a certain part of Iowa Street was read, but no ~ action taken.
