PROCLAMATION
"32ND ANNUAL CHRISTMAS TREE RECYCLE DAY"
F • Solid waste disposal and a dwindling capacity in our landfills is a critical

national problem.
;1 • Garden waste contributes a significant volume in our landfills. 1=
• Troop 112 of the Boy Scouts of America, with assistance from the Ashland
h ` t Parks Department, pick up and chipped Christmas trees in the City of Ashland.
" y • The chipped material was used on park trails and as mulch for plants and did
not enter the "waste stream."

F, ; ,a • The Ashland Lions Club supports this effort by donating volunteer power and
=t;1 equipment to transport the pick-up crews.
NOW THEREFORE, the City Council and Mayor, on behalf of the citizens of
Q h Ashland, hereby proclaim Saturday, January 6, 2018 as:
CHRISTMAS TREE-CYCLE
DA Y IN ASHLAND
and hereby urge all citizens to set out their tree near the curb on Friday, January Sin
to be picked up on Saturday, January 61h, and to consider making a donation to
assist the Troop in their community service activities. X
