The application materials state that the tree is unhealthy and with evidence of disease near its base. The application states that many large dead branches have fallen and pose a potential hazard. The tree is located to the west of the parking area between 394 and 364 Starflower Lane. The subject property is zoned R-1-5 and is vacant. The property was dedicated as open space when the subdivision was created. The subject property is 0.04 acres in size. Such mitigation requirements shall be a condition of approval of the permit. February 3, 2020 RegardingBackground on request for removal of willow tree Mountain Creek Estates would like to remove an unhealthy tree in the HOA common area, The tree is greater than 6" dbh (diameter at breast height). Therefore we seek approval from the City of Ashland prior to its removal. The tree is a Pussy willow approximately 30 feet tall. Among other issues, the tree has an unpleasant appearance which seems beyond help by pruning. We have several reasons for wanting to remove this tree, Some branches overhang the adjacent home at 394 Starflower, it has many dead branches, and appears diseased near its base. The stump will be ground, malting room for other landscaping,, We are concerned that as more branches fail they may fall on adjacent parked cars. The resident at 394 StarfloNver supports removal of this tree. We will choose pollina(or-friendly, fire -resistive shrub or small tree from the City of Ashland FireNvise Plant List, Likely choices will be Cercis spp. such as Redbud or Corpus spp. such as Dogwood. The HOA has chosen Case), Roland Tree Care to remove the tree, We will schedule the work once approval is received. The residents in adjoining homes will be notified of the work.
