As you can see in our past project images, the main objective of our art is to engage people in their daily paths and to help viewers gain a fuller understanding of their place within a larger natural and cultural history. We often render in metal relief the history of an area, its environmental and architectural landmarks and cultural heritage. In addition to providing aesthetic beauty and a deeper sense of place, we aim to create artwork that: • Can work in series to create movement, sustained interest and discovery. • Is interactive, fresh and original both in form and content. • Is effectively and sustainably integrated into its environmental setting. • Can be interpreted on multiple levels, having meaning for casual and informed viewers, adults and children. • Is accessible, durable, safe and easily maintained. Several of our past commissions have involved collaborations with local artists, community and cultural groups. We are experienced with the team interaction necessary to create a successful art project of this scope and are confident in our ability to meet the goals outlined in this RFP. Masterwork Plaques would look forward to working with the MAP project team on this dynamic project and learning about Ashland in the process. Thank you very much for your consideration. FINAL DRAWINGS: The concept drawings approved,Masterwork Plaques will begin the creation of final drawings. These will be used as the physical template from which all elements of the final bronzes are cast. The rendering techniques we plan to use for each element are also indicated.Once the final drawings are complete, they will pass to the MAP team for an accuracy review and approval sign-off.It is extremely important that all texts, dates, etc.are reviewed by more than one person on the MAP Team. One round of revisions to the specific details of the final drawings is available.Any proposed"new'content at this stage, however, will be deemed a change order. PATTERN MAKING: The approved final drawings are now translated by Masterwork Plaques into a number of different dimensional materials which, when combined, form a physical casting pattern from which the bronze will be cast. Sculpting these various materials(including clay, cardboard, cast plastic and polymer)in low relief brings our drawing to life in three dimensions. Three different styles will be used on the five insets:Style A/Flat Relief,Style 5/Layered Flat Relief and Style C/Combination of Hand-modeled and Layered Flat Relief.*The translation style will be determined for each inset based on its content as different imagery translates better in certain styles. We will aim for maximum surface variety for the series while staying within the fixed project budget. *Please see attached addendum^Plaque Relief Options^which provides visual examples of Styles A,B and C.
