HomeMy WebLinkAbout2019-11-21 Housing & Human Services MIN Ashland Housing and Human Services Commission Minutes November 21, 2019 Audio File Call to Order Commission Chair Rohde called the meeting to order at 4:02 pm in the Siskiyou Room at the Community Development and Engineering Offices located at 51 Winburn Way, Ashland, Oregon, 97520. Commissioners Present: Council Liaison Rich Rohde Dennis Slattery - Abscent Gina DuQuenne Linda Reppond SOU Liaison Erin Crowley None appointed at this time Heidi Parker Sarah Spansail Staff Present: Jackie Bachman Linda Reid, Housing Program Specialist Liz Hamilton, Permit Technician Commissioners Not In Attendance: Joseph Tomlin Tom Gunderson Approval of Minutes Commissioners Linda Reppond/Erin Crowley m/s to approve the minutes of October 24, 2019, as amended. Voice Vote: All Ayes. Motion passed Public Forum Huelz Gutcheon spoke on the new Winter Shelter and the CEAP plan. Retreat Agenda Planning/Goals and Outcomes Discussion The Commission discussed and agreed an agenda of 3 guest speakers: NAMI (National Alliance for Mental Illness), Angela Durant from City of Medford, and a Facilitator from the CHIP (Community Health Improvement Plan) and CHA (Community Health Assessment) programs. The goal would be information about who is providing or offering Mental Health Services in Ashland as well as finding out where the money from the state level is being distributed. Open Housing and Human Services Discussion Tied into the retreat agenda. HB 2916 Next Steps Discussion The Commission discussed and agreed to invite Pam Marsh to a meeting in 2020 for more information on HB 2916 Liaison Reports discussion Council / Dennis Slattery – Dennis not in attendance, email was read. Jail update. Staff / Linda Reid  Update on Commissioner meeting attendance.  State of Oregon awarded Jackson County Continuum of Care $150,000 for Winter Shelters. $58,000 will be given to ORHA for winter Shelter and $10,000 for warming center.  Consolidated Plan, need to do Community Outreach questionnaire. General Announcements  CAT special hotline for Jackson county temp thru January. th  Project Community Connect May 29, 2020 Medford Armory  United Way of JC Transportation Impact Committee Survey ends November 30, 2019 Upcoming Events and Meetings Next Housing Commission Regular Meeting/Retreat December 17, 2019-Ashland Hills Inn and Suites 1:30-4:30 Adjournment: Rich Rohde adjourned the meeting at 5:45p.m. Respectfully submitted by Liz Hamilton
