Early Learning Ad Hoc Committee
Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, August 24, 2023
1. Welcome and Introductions
• Johan Nicolas, Paula Hyatt, John Love, Lisa Verner, Dylan Bloom, Michelle Keller,
Samual Bogdanove, Jessica Therkelsen, Kristin Roy, Helga Motley, and Alissa
Kolodzinski.
2. Update on Early Learning Grant Program
• Asking legal about option to offer grants to for profit organizations
• Get legal involved with what specific license is needed for childcare facility
• Need legal to review application
I. Hope to get the program going in about two weeks.
3. Review of Ad Hoc Committee Charter
• Where do we want to start?
I. Identify resources capable of contributing to an early learning solution
II. Consider and plan for the needs of the care providers, specifically:
• Recommend a communication plan
• Before solving for needs, need to know your environment. Let’s get the
word out. What already exists and build on it.
• Specific barriers for service providers?
o Interview providers- what do they provide?
Discussion on finger printer issues
Licensed vs registered
Costs
Break up into smaller groups then come back together
Engage businesses
4. Initial feedback on work plan and next steps
5. Input to adjust meeting day and time to be convenient to most
