FILED IN THE

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a ballot title has been filed with
the City Recorder.
The ballot title has been prepared by the City Attorney and
approved by the Ashland City Council and is as follows:

SUMMARY:
GENERAL OBLIGATION BOND AUTHORIZATION FOR FLOOD
RESTORATION AND MITIGATION.
Shall the City be authorized to issue general
obligation bonds in an amount not to exceed
$1,250,0007 If the bonds are approved, they will
be payable from taxes on property or property
ownership that are not subject to limits of
Article XI, Section 11b of the Oregon
Constitution.
This measure authorizes up to $1,250,000 of
general obligation bonds for capital construction
and improvements including flood mitigation
related to the 1997 flood. Approximately 48% for
repair and reconstruction of transportation system
including bridges; approximately 30% for repair
and reconstruction of water systems; approximately
22% for repair and reconstruction of Lithia Park
and the park, wastewater, storm drain, stream
channel systems; all (100%) costs related to the
January 1997 flood. The bonds would mature within
20 years.
Any elector dissatisfied with the ballot title, may petition the
Circuit Court seeking a different title and stating the reasons
the title filed is insufficient, not concise or unfair. Petition
must be filed with the City elections officer. (ORS 250.296).

JACKSON COUNTY, OREGON
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on Tuesday, May Z0, 1997 an election
will be held in the City of Ashland, Jackson County, Oregon. The
following shall be the ballot title of the measure to be
submitted to the electors:
