Minutes of the January 20 meeting were approved with corrections.
Citizen Issue
Krista Hepford presented updated information for the proposed mural project at Abby Carpets as
requested by the PAC. In addition she noted she has two team members who will help to guide
her with the project: Karen Rycheck, a mosaic artist and a retired contractor.
The PAC had several questions about the suitability of the proposed materials, adhesives,
installation etc. all of which related to the maintenance and durability of the finished project. The
PAC did not want the City to be responsible for maintenance of the mural fabricated with
materials not designed for outdoor use.
Block-Brown made a motion to recommend approval of the mural to the City Council with the
condition that maintenance of the mural be the responsibility of the property owner and that no
commercial message be associated with the mural; seconded by Merchant. All approved.
Seltzer will prepare the paperwork, including a contract between the City and the property owner,
for the City Council meeting on March 7. Hepford will inform the property owner of the
decision.
Comment Cards
All comments received either at the Library or via email will be provided to the public artist when
he is in town on February 24.
Bussell will collect the remaining comment cards.
Huether Itinerary
Friend reviewed Gordon Huether’s itinerary, the meeting with the PAC at 1:00 on Friday,
February 24 and the public meeting that same evening at the Library. After Huether’s
presentation at the Library, Friend will invite the audience to provide the artist with how they
would like the theater corridor space to feel with the new public art.

It was suggested audience members be provided with 3x5 notecards as they take their seats so
that they can jot down their questions/comments.
PAC members will meet at the Library at 6:00 to set up the meeting space. Block-Brown will
submit a letter to the Tidings inviting people to attend the presentation. All PAC members were
encouraged to alert their friends and colleagues about the event.
Seltzer has posted the event online, submitted the information to the Tidings as a news release
and as a posting on the Tidings calendar section. All city commissions and city council have
received the information.
Meeting adjourned at 10:00 a.m.
