Minutes for March were approved
Review and prioritize draft Goals
The group discussed prioritizing the goals and comments were made that some goals could
be combined. Friend and Seltzer will work to fine tune and combine goals where
appropriate. Comments were made that goals are a guide to current and future workloads.
The group focused its discussion on the current projects; specifically securing sculpture for
the Calle, timeline, finalizing the RFQ for the Gateway project and preparing the report to the
City Council.
Davis, Hepford and Bussell will work as a subcommittee on securing sculpture for the Calle
with focus on researching current available sculpture and potential sculptors and then making
a recommendation to the full commission on the amount of money that should be allocated,
and whether or not to invite a specific sculptor or to issue an RFQ and whether to purchase a
piece or commission a piece. The subcommittee will report to the full commission at the
May meeting.
Davis volunteered to draft the report to be given to the City Council. Rosenthal encouraged
her to focus on informing the Council about the Gateway project. Davis will prepare a draft
for full commission review at the May meeting.
Friend will review the current goals as written and then meet with Seltzer to refine and
combine goals, objectives and tactics where appropriate.
Other
The commission briefly reviewed the various handouts including the draft Gateway RFQ, the
DRAFT Mural Packet and the City of Medford Public Art Acquisition and Selection Policy.
There was general agreement that a similar document would be useful.
Meeting adjourned at 9:30.
