Public Art Commission
March 19, 2010
Regular Meeting
Attendance:
Commissioners: Davis, Edson, Bussell, Wynkoop, Pugh, Seltzer (staff liaison)
Absent: Wilkerson, Lemhouse (council liaison)

Chair Bussell called meeting to order at 8:15 a.m. and welcomed and introduced Carol Davis to
the Public Art Commission.
Approval of Minutes
M/S Edon/Wynkoop approval of minutes for January and February
Goal Review
Murals
The Committee reviewed the list of goals from the February meeting. Bussell presented slides of
possible locations for a mural.
The Committee discussed possible locations with a focus on publically owned buildings/spaces
rather than private. Possible locations include the bike path and Garfield Park and the large
retaining wall in Will Dodge Way.
Master Plan Gateway
The Committee discussed the process required to conduct master planning for the gateway.
Walking Tour Brochure
Bussell passed out the walking tour brochure of public art for SOU. The committee discussed the
merits of a similar brochure either in print or as an online tour guide.
Givens
Brief discussion on the timeline for the list of givens: Calle sculptures, Hardesty memorial,
Friends of Public Art and meeting with Parks Commission.
Utility Box Phase 2
Edson provided an outline of next steps. The committee discussed funding, box locations and
timing.
