Since 1984, Ashland's voters have renewed the levy each time it has been placed on the ballot. The levy, which authorizes a maximum of 9 cents per thousand dollars of true cash value of taxable property, enables the Ash'land Parks and Recreation Department to offer aquatic programs such as swimming lessons and recreational swimming at the Daniel Meyer Memorial Pool at a reasonable fee. This serial levy also provides monies for the maintenance of community recreational facilities which have been developed jointly with other public agencies. These jointly developed recreational facilities reduce · costs by avoiding duplication, maximizing use by the community, and providing greater efficiency in community organization. and involvement.
