HomeMy WebLinkAbout2008-05-16 Public Arts_MIN Notes Public Art Commission May 16, 2008 Regular Meeting Attendance: Commissioners: Markell, Bussell, Longshore, Seltzer (staff liaison) Absent: Wilkerson, Pugh, Douglas, Hardesty Guests: Glen Hill, Nina Counsel Chair Markell called meeting to order at 8:20 a.m. Due to lack of a quorum minutes from April 18 were not approved. Glen Hill/Silk Road Hill presented his concept to create a Silk Road of banners to be installed in the spring of 2010. His prepared presentation is attached. Hill would like the PAC to endorse the project and is not requesting funds or other support from the PAC. Due to lack of quorum, the commission could not vote to lend support. It will be raised at the June meeting. Informally, the commissioners in attendance were supportive and complimentary of the project. Seltzer explained that city permits may need to be obtained and requested a wrok back schedule from Hill. PAC Commission Vacancy Anderson has resigned from the committee. Markell will contact a previous applicant to determine if she is still interested and then ill make a recommendation to the council. Jackson County Cultural Grant Markell and Longshore are working on the JCCC grant application. They are requesting $1500 to for a utility box painting project. The application is due in August. Calle Guanajuato Sculpture Markell will contact artist Steve Jensen re: Oyster and Kelp. Lloyd Haines Seltzer updated the group on the project. Haines has filed all the necessary paperwork with ODOT. Seltzer will draft CUP letter on behalf of the commission. Seltzer advised the group that the broken piece from Nourishing our Community has been added to the surplus property sale by the City. Action: Markell to contact Mee and Jensen Seltzer to pull all utility box painting information for Longshore Next meeting, June 20, 8:15 a.m. Meeting adjourned: 9:45
