Minutes of 2/16/07 approved with corrections Rickbone/Bussell
The group reviewed the collection of information provided by Adrienne Graham of the February
public involvement meetings. Bussell commented that the information needs to be tightened up and is
not helpful as presented. The group agreed that the PAC needs to review the information and
prioritize the suggestions and information. Seltzer explained that Graham may be waiting until the
next round of meetings are completed before writing the executive summary about the data.
There was much discussion about the next meetings; where to hold them (Highway 66, Railroad
District, Quiet Village) and the format of the meeting. It was agreed that the format should be
different than the previous “café” style. Hardesty suggested that the facilitator should assist in
developing the format for the next meetings. Moddison suggested that the meetings for Highway 66
businesses be held at one of the businesses. The group agreed that they needed to start meeting more
frequently as they did in December to begin planning the next round of meetings.
The group discussed the results of the surveys provided by Moddison. It was agreed that there was a
lot of data and they would need time to study the information. They also discussed the survey
distribution, where it has been distributed and other ways to get the word out. Rickbone commented
on her presentations about the survey to Rotary and AAUW. Hardesty offered to distribute the
surveys at meetings she attends. She also suggested with the upgrades and improvements planned
throughout the school district there might be an opportunity for incorporating public art. She will
mention it to School Board members.
The group agreed to meet at Markell’s house on Tuesday, March 20 (Hardesty will be unable to attend
due to previously scheduled meetings) from 4:00 6:00.
The group discussed the idea brought forward at one of the public meetings regarding painting the
green transformer boxes and this might be an opportunity for public art in the neighborhoods where
public land is limited to public rights of way.
Seltzer suggested the group prepare a progress report on the planning and activities of the PAC related
to the master plan for the council. Seltzer and Markell to develop the draft report.
Bussell has agreed to serve as vicechair and Markell will continue to serve as Chair on the condition
that she doesn’t have to do presentations to large groups.
Meeting adjourned at 9:30 a.m.
