Bussell read the draft letter to SOU regarding cuts in art classes. The PAC agreed to submit the
letter on behalf of the commission and made a few minor changes. Bussell will email the letter
and hard deliver a hard copy.
General discussion about the Master Planning Community Forums. Estimated attendance over
the two events was 2530 people. Guests were engaged, complimented the process, and
commented on the presentations. Suggestions on follow up with attendees including thank you
note and/or letting them know when the master plan document was completed and ready for
distribution. Commissioners commented on the diverse suggestions for funding and creative
artistic events such as pole banners, a Public Art month, painting electric boxes etc.
The group discussed next steps and who to include in the focus groups. It was decided to wait
until the next meeting in order to have time to review the summary being prepared by Adrienne
and Carrissa to determine what groups and/or topic might not have been captured in the process.
Focus group suggestions include the business community on Hwy 66 and neighborhoods.
Carissa gave an overview of PAC public outreach to date and will continue to “record”
questionnaires and prepare a summary.
Hardesty suggested the group consider forming a non-profit and or a “Friends of Public Art”.
She explained that people are often more willing to contribute to a non-profit rather than to
government. The group agreed this needs to be discussed and will include it as a future agenda
item.
Seltzer reminded the group of the Commission Appreciation event scheduled for Monday, March
12 and the group agreed to display the two Public Art posters and have questionnaires available.
Next regular meeting is Friday, March 16.
Meeting adjourned at 9:30 p.m.
