Ettlin provided four handouts (attached) detailing costs and potential savings. Committee discussion centered on the potential savings and potential compromises that could affect the life cycle costs of the building. Bill Molnar, community development director spoke about the Site Design Standards for the City which have evolved over the past 20 years and cited examples of building design that prompted citizens to request higher standards. This information provided insight to the committee on the proposed exterior finish of the proposed station. After much discussion the committee asked: • Is it possible to build Fire Station #2 as a 50 year building for less than $3M, meet the City Site Design and Use Standards and not compromise on function? • Can a life cycles cost analysis be done with the current design/costs and a less expensive design? Staff will follow through on the above and provide answers at the next meeting. At the next meeting Fire Chief John Karns will address questions raised at the first committee meeting about Fire Station #2, the ladder truck and training station. Next dates: Thursday, March 11 (Fire Station #2, ladder truck and training station) Thursday, March 25 (Police Station) Thursday, April 1, 15 and 29. https://old.ashland.or.us/Agendas.asp?AMID=4086&Display=Minutes 2/4 9/16/24, 2:16 PM Public Safety Bond Committee - Public Safety Bond Committee - City of Ashland, Oregon Online City Services Email Updates Sign up to receive local important News & Events.
