DISCUSSION ITEMS
Update on Arbor Day:
Council Presentation – Michael received a notice that starting this year, a representative from ODF will not be
available to attend the Tree City USA proclamation and presentation as previous years. Therefore staff and a
Tree Commissioner will give a brief presentation on what we have done this past year and what we are working
on.
Art center – Peddicord will verify with the Art Center to see if Arbor Art can be displayed in conjunction with
the First Friday Art Walk in April.
Siskiyou school – Michael has been working with Siskiyou Staff on planting a tree with the students this year.
We would like to include with them the benefits of trees and showing how to plant and take care of trees.
Earth Day at Science works – much coordination still needs to occur regarding the booth, staffing, and tree
planning, and educational display of the Groasis Box. Michael will meet with Science works staff later in the
week to discuss placement and display the box.
Display – Anne is working with Parks Dept graphic designer to create a educational display to be installed at
the three areas that a Groasis Box will be located. Anne will come back to the Commission next meeting with a
draft model for commissioners to discuss.
Under review cards –At previous meetings the Commission has discussed the issue that tree remoovel/protection
plants are not always accurate and it is often difficult for Commissioners to clearly identify which trees they are to
be reviewing. As such, an idea to create “under review” cards to be given to the applicants for them to staple to the
tree so that the Commissioners are clearly aware which trees are to be inspected.
