Attendees: Thomas Beam, Risa Buck, Stuart Corns, Cat Gould,Jim Hartman, Marni Koopman,Jim McGinnis, and Mark Weir, Not present: Roxane Beigel-Coryell (Stuart Corns representing SOU) and David Runkel. City Council Liaison: none present Staff Representative: Adam Hanks, Mary McClary APPROVAL OF MINUTES https://old.ashland.or.us/Agendas.asp?AMID=5229&Display=Minutes 1/7 8/26/25, 12:41 PM Conservation Commission meeting March 20,2013-Conservation and Climate Outreach Committee-City of Ashland,Oregon Chairperson Beam asked for approval of the minutes for February 27, 2013. Commissioner Weir corrected the spelling of his name. Commission Weir made a motion in the last meeting.- 1. Develop a storm drain adoption program. 2. Create a best practices guide for car washing in Ashland The motion was seconded by Commissioner Gould. Voice Vote:All Ayes. The motion passed with a unanimous vote. Commissioner Weir moved to approve the amended minutes for February 27,seconded by Commissioner Buck. Voice Vote:All Ayes. The motion passed with a unanimous vote. The members discussed the goals stated in the minutes. ANNOUNCEMENTS The next Conservation Commission meeting would be held April 24, 2013, Wednesday beginning at 6pm. Energy summit h. Further zero waste The motion was made by Commissioner Koopman to discuss the energy summit at the next conservation Commission's role in the energy summit seconded by Commissioner McGinnis. Voice Vote:All Ayes. The motion passed with a unanimous vote. The members discussed the goals stated in the minutes. 5. Green Business a. Review ICLEI Green Business Challenge b. Review concept of Consortium 6. Climate Change a. Review strategies for recommendations for the city b. City commits to strive toward zero waste Commissioner Gould made a motion we recommend to the city they adopt a zero waste declaration by 2030. No second. Motion retracted. Commissioner McGinnis made a motion to adopt the goals as stated for 2013, seconded by Commissioner Weir. Voice Vote:All Ayes. The motion passed with a unanimous vote. NEW BUSINESS 1. Conservation Awards Selections The Commissioners choose the following winners for the awards: Conservationist of the Year--Eric Dittmer Business conservationist of the Year Ashland Food Co-op Non-Profit Conservationists of the Year---Camila Thorndike Non-Profit Conservationist of the Year Hannah Sohl 2.
