CALL TO ORDER: 5:38 PM Stefanie Seffinger, Chris Chambers, Albert Pepe, John Williams, Frank Betlejewski, Jim Berge, Jeff McFarland IL INTRODUCTIONS None III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: May 14th minutes A "d" was added to the word "submitted" in the second line. Seffinger motioned to accept minutes as amended, Pepe seconded and all voted in favor. IV. PUBLIC FORUM V. ADJUSTMENTS TO THE AGENDA VI. BUSINESS A. Trails/Recreation Update a. BTI Reroute Application/Alice Reroute Progress BTI app, alice easements, $$ for trails master plan in budget. McFarland knows who the consultant is who wrote the Parks Master Trails plan and can pass the name on. B. Ashland Forest Plan Revision Dennis and Seffinger talked about the social section. Brennan was assigned the unit monitoring text/discussion. McFarland sent Betlejewski the Parks Master Trails Plan. Timelines were discussed as a means to encourage the various chapters to be drafted and eventually completed in time. Betlejewski discussed his finding that there's a birchleaf mountain mahogany and Oregon white oak plant association in Siskiyou Mt Park in a 5 acre area. Frank wrote a prescription for Parks to inform current fuels work going on in the park with Lomakatsi. All commissioners should bring an outline or rough draft by September lOtn meeting. C. City Lands Thinning and Burning Update PERC grant through The Nature Conservancy has supported the City forestlands burning this year though we didn't burn as many acres as possible due to unfavorable weather conditions, but did get 22 acres of high priority areas burned. The PERC grant also funded 77 acres of fuels reduction work at Siskiyou Mountain Park via Lomakatsi plus 250 acres of fuels reduction on private G:\fire\Forest Interface DivisionTorest Lands Commission\MINUTES\2013Vune 1 lth,2013 final.docx forestland just west of the watershed and town. The City Winburn helicopter thinning project was successful with just a little over the amount of volume removed than was predicted in the cruise. The price for the byproduct logs was high, which allowed more grant funding to be spent on other portions of the PERC grant because more of the helicopter work paid for itself, though it was still subsidized. D. AFR Project Update Crews are cleaning up the slash left after the helicopter work. The helicopter landings are being cleared of firewood that the AFR partners hope to offer some of the firewood to the public through permits at the Forest Service. Road maintenance will start soon across the area to restore roads and improve drainage. Trail improvements are underway around the White Rabbit area that will separate user traffic and decrease conflicts and improve safety. E. Watershed Outreach Plan Discussion Review of the notes from April. Suggestion was made to create a City Forestlands brochure. Williams had offered to create a simple brochure and will send out a Email to the commission to get input. There's a list of facts and figures on the back of the current cartoon map that could be used. Chambers suggested a map that at least shows that the City is an owner in the watershed and could include some basic topography and roads. Seffinger suggested including the benefits of active stewardship. Williams suggested a piece on history of watershed protection. Other suggestions include recreation and trails. The Chamber of Commerce is producing a map so the brochure shouldn't be too similar to that. VII. COMMISSIONER COMMENTS VIII. REVIEW AND SET COMMISSION CALENDAR/NEXT MEETING A.
