CALL TO ORDER: 12:01 PM II. INTRODUCTIONS Present: Eric Olson, Kathy Kane,Ron Parker, Mike Morris,Kelly Gustafson,Ron Bolstad,Jim Hardt, Firewise Coordinator Ali True,Administrative Assistant Kimberley Summers III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: September 21St meeting Approved 12"05 as recorded Ron Parker IV. PUBLIC FORUM-None V. ADJUSTMENTS TO THE AGENDA- Commission Photo VL BUSINESS A. Thanks to volunteers for liaisons for Firewise programs a. The poster contest is taking place with the 1 St and 2"d grade Ali True will be working with Kathy Kane b. Spring clean up depends on the Grant money that will be available c. The Firewise community grant will continue for one more year d. Firewise tours B. Update on current Firewise Communities by Neighborhood a) Briscoe- Signs up now at Strawberry meadows, Lithia Creek estates will be the last community recognized in this area, signs are in process b) Grove-Mt. Meadows is scheduled for November c) Lincoln- Signs got posted at Merrill circle, d) Terra- Quail Haven, signs will be posted in a couple weeks e) Oak Knoll-Done for the year,HOA awards will be presented fl City-wide projects B. Discuss Firewise Community Tour for Commission a. Ali True would like to start organizing tours she asked the question does the Firewise Commission have any suggestions and availability options. It was recommended by Eric Olson that we have a tour in lieu of a meeting, inviting the media. A doodle pole will be e-mailed out to the Firewise Commission. The next meeting will be on November 16`i',which may be beneficial to schedule the tour for that meeting. D. Upcoming events 1. 10/27-10/29/11: Backyards and Beyond Conference—Denver, CO 2. Early November: Quailhaven Firewise recognition November 6tn 3. Year-end report: need volunteer tracking hours from Commissioners please turn in your Volunteer Time Tracking sheets at the November 16th Meeting. E. 10 Minute Training Hand outs were provided on combustibility of Landscape bark mulch and Preventing Disaster Home Ignitability in the Wildland Urban Interface. Please take the time to review; lots of beneficial information is available. Please send Ali True an e-mail regarding the 10 minute training, constructive feedback would be valuable for future meetings. Ron Bolstad suggested that talking about Grants available and funding that is available. Timber Payments has funded our Title Three grant for Firewise. VII. COMMISSIONER COMMENTS It was asked by Kelly Gustafson how a Firewise Community continues the process year after year. VIII. REVIEW AND SET COMMISSION CALENDAR/NEXT MEETING A.
