I. CALL TO ORDER: 11:02
II. IN ATTENDANCE: Stef Seffinger,Vicki Sturtevant,Ron Parker, Chris Chambers, Doug Kay, Tim
Bewley, Bruce Moats
Absent: Tracy Peddicord
III.INTRODUCTIONS
IV. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Approved
Action Item: Ask Bruce at the next meeting about the process that took place on his insurance discount for
Firewise. 5% on gross policy or 50% on fire policy
Action Item: Draft a letter from the commission to State Farm that would be reviewed by the Council,
Mayor and Fire Chief as needed. Currently sitting with the chief.Will send to Brian for review.
Action Item: Chambers will contact the Oregon Fire Chief s Association, or other avenue,to make a contact
with the Oregon Insurance Commission to ask about support for future Firewise discounts being approved.
Approach commissioner to see what is going on.

A. New Business
a. The commission discussed moving the December meeting to the 14'to avoid the holiday
break. Chambers will be gone starting on the 14',but Alison will be back. YES,Station 1
B. Ongoing Business
a. AF&R Update:
i. Ashland Forest Resiliency(AFR)/Ashland Forest All Lands Resiliency(AFAR).
• 175 acres first day—very successful/target was 75/70 acres
today
• 75 acres of private land burned
• 400 acres being cut/helicopter in December down Tolman Creek
• First round of grant—6 year program/$1m a year/private as
well as governmental Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board

• Salmon money from Fed
• Lottery $from the state
ii. Firewise
• Waiting for Alison
• Vicky: What is going on with Park Estates?
• Any money? Firewise community annual money
$1,500
• Separate grants for individual homes up to $300 per
home
b. Community Wildfire Protection Plan update
i. Community Outreach Plan: Landscapers/Nursery/Grant for demo garden
grant at Station 1 /Bellview School? Ruch & Shady Cove are doing it/
communicate with pollinator group?
• Where is the ideal location?Deer—fire—etc.
• Tracy and Doug will work on the list
• Create postcard with direct links
• Bee pollinator awareness
ii. Future Ideas: Make a website for the CWPP when it is finalized.
• Risk Assessment CPAW grant—will give us some help with
review of wildfire ordinance,WUI materials, risk assessment,
plant lists, code language, conference call,site visit and write
report,
• April 30,2017 complation
iii. Review timeline and update on tasks
c. WTF update
i. Follow up on Mega Fire presentation: evavuation, communication, smoke,
business continuity, CERT Emergency Prepared businesses, (Chamber will
be involved)
