CITY OF ASHLAND
JACKSON COUNTY, OREGON
NOTICE IS GIVEN that on Tuesday, June 29, 1993, an election will
be held in the City of Ashland, Jackson County, Oregon. The
election will be conducted by mail. The following shall be the
ballot title for the measure submitted to the electors:
CAPTION:
CHILDREN'S CULTURAL AND. RECREATIONAL TWO-YEAR SERIAL
LEVY.. ~
QUESTION: Shall City levy 97¢ per $1000 taxable value for two years outside the tax
base for operating purposes beginning in 1993-947
EXPLANATION: This measure authorizes the City of Ashland to levy a maXimum
of 97 cents per thousand dollars of true cash value of taxable property.
The measure will provide funds to substantially restore several programs
for Ashland School District students, grades kindergarten through tw. elfth,
which were eliminated or reduced because of Ballot Measure Five.
Various programs will be funded through this levy such as speech and
debate team, musical performances, marketing, vocational and business
clubs, Ashland Teffn Center, resident outdoor School, drama, student
newspaper and yearbook, athletics, school libraries and youth and adult
community activities. Restored programs will be c6nducted by the
Ashland School District through an agreement with the City of Ashland
Park and Recreation Commission. The estimated amount of money to
be raised by this levy is $873,000 in 1993-94 and $890,000 in 1994-95.
The tax levy is subject to the other governmental limits of Section 1 lb,
Article X!, of the Oregon Constitution.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a ballot title has been filed with
the city Recorder.
The ballot title has been prepared by the city Attorney and
approved by the Ashland City Council calling a special election
on June 29, 1993 in the city of Ashland and is as follows:

Article Xl, of the Oregon Constitution.
Any elector dissati. sfied with the ballot title, may petition the
Circuit Court seeking a different title and stating the reasons
the title filed'~s'insufficient, not concise or unfair. Petition
must be filed not later than the seventh business day after the
title was filed with the City elections officer. (ORS 250.296).
Must be filed by 5:00 P.M., June 3, 1993.
