The current water system does not have the ability to provide adequate fire protection to existing residents in the higher elevations. The area is on the west slope of the entrance to the City of Ashland watershed. A wildfire in the area poses a significant hazard to the watershed. In 1982 the City had an engineering firm explore the water pressures in the area using a computer model.
