Hence, as of July 25th, I will be residing outside the city limits and must, therefore, tender my resignation as a member of the Ashland City Council (Ashland Charter Article III Elective Officers, Sections 2, Understandably, I regret having to make this decision prior to the end of my service on the council. I have, and do, love Ashland, the citizens, and business people so I leave with an ambivalence of feelings concerning the past and the future. The past has involved many associations with the town, college, Shakespeare, community organizations, and various services which, I hope, enhanced Ashland, and certainly contributed to my own personal develop- ment. I chose to move only a few miles away so I can still keep in touch with the special charm of Ashland. It has been a humbling and rewarding experience to serve on the Ashland City Council and I certainly gained a great deal of respect for the wisdom Ashland has shown in hiring the best staff in the State, selecting council members who reall.V care about the welfare of the city, and involving citizens in the tough decisions and "crystal ball" speculations of what Ashland can become (or not become) with their decisions. Yay I thank all of you, and the citizens, for the privilege and opportunity to serve as a council member and my sincere regrets for having to resign. However, I wish only the bes~ for the future of Ashland and will continue to follow events and developments with renewed interest. ~uch love and respect to you all,
