Budget Officer Nelson reviewed the Parks and Recreation Swimming
Pool Serial Levy and said there is one more year under the existing
levy, and it would be an advantage to place the issue on the
May 20th primary election for a new serial levy beginning July 1,
1987 for the continuation of funding for the swimming pool programs
and maintaining recreation facilities. Nelson noted that it is a
General Election year and there would be a better turn out at the
po]is.
Another advantage Almquist said is that there would be no cost to
the City for the election if it is held on the primary election date.
A resolution calling a special election on the 20th day of May, 1986,
in the City of Ashland for the purpose of submitting to the legal

do|lars each year for the Park and Recreation Department for its
swimming pool program and for recreation facility maintenance, which
levy will be assessed beyond that now authorized by Article XI,
section 11, of the Oregon Constitution, and making provisions for
said election was read by Almquist.
Smith said she would like to see the serial levy for pool programs and
pool maintenance only.
