WHEREAS,

our beautiful state is "home" to all Oregonians and
a "second home" to thousands of guests and tourists
annually As Oregonians, it is our responsibility

to provide both residents aria guests with a fire-
safe environment in which to visit, work, or play;
littered, run-do~ properties are not just eyesores;
they are fire hazards as well. Statistics from
Oregon's Office of State Fire Marshal indicates that
clean, well-maintained bu Za ngs, pZaygrounas, par s,
and other facilities seldom burn; aria
to help reauce our state's fire risk, fire depart-
ments throughout Oregon will be actively participating
in a Spring Clean-up Campaign. These departments will
stage clean-up, fix-up, and painting programs speci-
fically designed to prevent fire, beautify communities
and promote recycling.
NOW THEREFORE, I, L. Gordon Medaris, Mayor of the City of
Ashland do hereby proclaim the month of May, 1983 as:
"CLEAN-UP MONTH"
in Ashland, and also urges all citizens of Ashland to join
their local fire department and related group efforts in the
promotion of the thirteenth annual Spring "Clean-Up Campaign."
