NATIONAL BIBLE WEEK
November 22 - 29, 1981
WHEREAS,
this country and this cgmmunity has long valued
the tradition of freedom of religious expression;
and
WHEREAS,
in these days of uncertainty, we a.re surrounded by
international turmoil, inflation, rising crime and
moral confusion; and
WHEREAS,
the Holy Bible remains as it always has, an indestruct-
ible foundation of truth, a source of inspiration all
of us can turn to; and
WHEREAS,
every person has within his, or her, innermost being
a yearning and a hunger for spiritual fulfillment and
GOD, in his infinite wisdom, has made provision for
this fulfillment in Holy Scripture; and,
WHEREAS, throughout this country people are encouraged to con-
sider "THE BIBLE, READ IT FOR YOURSELF."
NOW, therefore, I, L. Gordon Medaris, Mayor of the City of
Ashland, Oregon, do hereby proclaim November 22-29, 1981 as
"BIBLE WEEK IN ASHLAND"
and urge all citizens of Ashland to participate in this annual
observance by reading the Bible and becoming familiar with its
teachings and principles.
