ASHIJkND CITY COUNCIL
January 4, 1979
ROLL CALL
HIGHWAY 66 WIDENING
ADJOURNMENT
Robert D. Nelson
Acting Recorder
Mayor Gary Prickett called the meeting to order on the above date
at 7:30 P.M. in the Council Chambers. All members were present.
After having walked the section of Highway 66 scheduled for improve-
ment, the Council discussed proposed modifications.
Mayor Prickett reviewed seven amendments which had been suggested dur-
ing previous discussions or while the Council was inspecting the
highway.
After more discussion, a motion was made by Ragland and seconded by
Hamilton, that the State be requested to leave the driveway to the
motel in, cutting its width to 22 feet and moving it as far to the
left as possible. Sims, Ragland, Medaris and Hamilton voted for the
motion; Phelps and Laws voted against.
Concerning the southeast corner of Lit Way and Highway 66, Phelps
suggested negotiations for removal of the entrance/exit from Highway 66
and substitution of a driveway on Lit Way.
Prickett advocated an early report back to the Council.
Medaris expressed concern that delay could jeopardize the $375,000
project.
Upon motion by Ragland, seconded by Hamilton and carried, a Resolution
entitled "A Resolution Authorizing the Mayor and Recorder to Execute
Construction Agreement No. 6797 with the Oregon State Highway Divis-
ion for the Widening of Highway 66 from Park Street to Siskiyou Blvd.,"
was adopted.
Mayor Prickett asked Phelps and Medaris to be available to discuss
these matters with the State.
