HomeMy WebLinkAbout1977-0125 SS MIN STUDY SESSION January 25, 1977 P P & L FILM BEAR CREEK WATER Tom Thompson, administrative assistant for P P & L, presented a slide presentation on future energy needs and probable capabilities of P P & L for the period 1977 to 1982. A joint study session of Talent and Ashland City Council was held to discuss Talent's water situation. Councilmen McCannon, Phelps, Drescher and Laws attended, with Talent Mayor Turnbaugh, Recorder Jan Anders, Councilwoman Rose Ditsworth, Councilman Larry Baker and another Councilman. DEQ was represented by Harold Sawyer, Administrator of~Water Quality Division, Ed Quon and Marlin Huff. The Health Division, Dept. of Human Resources of State was represented by Don Hebard, manager of plan review sectionaLLynn Colebank, a~ Cliff Shaw of Marguess & Marguess Engineering, designer of Talent's proposed water treatment plant, attended. Jeff Gibbs, Ron Salter, Brian Almquist, A1 Alsing, and Ed Fallon also spoke, as did restaurant operator Joe Slowokowski and a K-Boy reporter. A tape of the meeting was made (filed in Council Meeting Exhibits), and begins with narrative by Harold Sawyer of DEQ. This was preceded by introductions by Administrator Almquist, who also called attention to various studies going back to 1965, none of which suggested Bear Creek as a supply of drinking water. M.
