HomeMy WebLinkAbout1977-0509 MEMO - CITYMay 9, 1977 City Administrator Brian L. Almqnist Director of Finance Robert D. Nelson POSITION RECI,ASSII~ICATION AS you know, Jr. Accountant Nan Franklin has been appointed to the City Recorder posjtion effective June 1, 1977. The a'-c. Acco~lntant job description includes some snpervisory rosponsjbility, similar to that of a leadman's reJationship to a journeyman. This arrangemen[ has }Dean appropriate in the past, but with the SupervisorN Accountant author.~zed as ef January l, 1978, ~here will be no need for a third layer of supervision (Director of Finanee '- Supervising Accountant .- Jr. Accouhtant). Therefore, I am suggestinq that we drop ~he Jr. Accountant position and substitute a Clerk III position in Finance Administration. ]f irhc2 Cou4cil agrees, a ClerP III will be h.ired, and the followin(! chan~Jo will ap_pear in the Finance & Administrative Services budget Add: Clerk Ill Part-Time, Overtime Deduct: Jr. Accountant Net reductio!l in salaries $ 8,456 900 JA ~_,.9~7~2) $(1,716) The amounts would of cour.se, be adjusted to reflect any changes in salary ranges which might be authorized by the Council, parsuant to your negotiations with the non-union, non-supervisory employees. (This change was not contemplated in the Administrative reorganization plan because the Jr. Accountant was scheduled to remain on the job until 1.998 or 1999). Respectfully submitted, Robd~D.~ Nelson Director of P;nance RDN/amt
