HomeMy WebLinkAbout1974-0423 ADJOURNEDMINUTES FOR THE ADJOURNED MEETING ASHLAND CITY COUNCIL April 23, 1974 INVOCATION Father Ken Olson of Our Lady of th~ Mountain Catholic Church gave invocation, followed by the pledge of allegiance to the flag. ROLL CALL Council Chairman Roble called the meeting to order in the absence of Mayor Fries in the Council Chambers on the above date. Soderberg, Allen, Conklin, and McCannon were present. Prickett arrived at 7:35 p.m. BUDGET CALENDAR Finance Director Bob Nelson submitted proposed budget calen- dar stating that proceedings must be complete by July.l, 1974 and suggested that Citizens Budget Committee meet in period beginning May 9, 1974, to June 3, 1974. McCannon moved that Budget Calendar for 1974-75 be adopted as proposed by Finance Director Nelson. Soderberg seconded. On roll call passed unanimously and first meeting was scheduled for May 9, 1974, at 2:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers. SOCIAL GA~LING ORDINanCE Recorder Butler gave second reading by title only of an ordi- nance permitting social gambling in certain situations, and declaring an emergency. Conklin moved for adoption. Allen seconded. Soderberg voiced concern because the ordinance allows social gambling but does not provide for enforcement. Prickett said that the ordinance can be revoked or amended at any time and he could see no problem. Chief Hays said he anticipates no problem but would notify Council should any develop. On roll call vote motion passed without opposition. DO~TOT;~ PROJECT Special Benefit Assessment Ordinance Chairman Roble gave second reading by title only of an ordi-' nance levying special benefit assessments in the amount of $48,993.00 in the matter of construction of sidewalks, curbs, street trees, street lighting, and street furniture in Street Improvement District No. 40, and declaring an emer- gency. Conklin moved for adoption; McCannon seconded and motion to adopt passed unanimously on roll call vote. ADJOURNMENT Meeting was JoPep/hM.
