Council members Allen, So~erberg, Roble and McCannon were present. Mayor Fries and Councilmen Prickett and Conklin were absent. Council ~Chairman Roble presided at the meeting. . Recorder Butler returned from the County Elections Department at 4:15 and presented Abstracts of the vote oP the November 5, 1974 election. Roll call was taken and the Council then canvassed the abstract, which showed the following votes: For Council Position No. 2: Craig E. Hoffarth, 2073; Audrey H. Soderberg, 2060; Morton Newman, 1. For Council Position No. 4: Patric Ashby, 869; Roland McCannon, 1667; Joseph M. McVey, 406; Dennis L. Walker, 1017. For Council Position No. 5: Gary L. Prickerr, 2882; Don Cleaver, 2; Elliott MacCracken, 42; Sheldon Rio, 10; Don Pinnock, 1; Elvin G. Rothwell, 1; Alfred Willstatter, 5; Boots Bemis, 1; B. J. Phillips, 1; Jim Sims, 2; Martys Meulemans, 1; Sam Davis, 1; Ruth Ballweg, 1. For Council Position No. 6: James L. Conklin, 1806; Margaret E. McDowell, 2138; Elliott MacCracken, 1; Albert Meyer, 1. For Recorder: Joseph M. Butler, 3130; Charles Felix Pinnell, 609. For Parks and Recreation Commission: Kay L. Bernard, 2266; John W. Mills, 2219; Edith R. Willstatter, 2122; Robert J. Bennett, 2689; Leanne Hill, 1; Steve Mackie, 1; Ed Wymack, 1. On Measure NO. 14-B (Public Officials Finance Ethics), 2529 votes for the measure and 1653 against. On Measure No. 51 (Charter Amendment-Adjustment of Recorder's Salary), 2619 votes for the measure and 801 against. Recorder Butler then read a Resolution declaring the canvass of ~he vote at the General Election held in and for the City of Ashland, November 5, 1974. The resolution declared the election of Craig E. Hoffarth (subject to automatic recount as provided by Section 251.640 of Oregon Revised Statutes), Roland McCannon, Gary L. Prickett, Margaret McDowell, Joseph M. Butler, Robert J. Bennett, Kay L. Bernard and John W. Mills to their respective offices as heretofore described. McCannon moved to adopt the Resolution, seconded by Allen and passed unanimously by voice vote. Butler then read the Mayor's Pro- clamation of the election which was signed by Acting Mayor Roble. The recorder then read a Resolution declaring the canvass of the vote at the Special Election held in and for the City of Ashland, November 5, 1974. %]~e resolution declared the passage of a Charter Amendment which chan~'es Article III, Section 3 to provide that the elected Recorder's salary be in its present amount and be adjusted starting with the fiscal year 1974-75 in the same percentage as the average salaFy adJustmen[s of the other supervisory employees and department heads of the City of Ashland. McCannon mqved to adjourn to November 26, 1974. and passed unanimously on voice vote. The motion was seconded by Soderberg Mayor Adj. Mtg. 11/8/7h Page 2
