Street Resurfacing
Works
Program
The street resurfacing program which was recommended last Mdy has been
completed. The fifteen streets have been resurfaced within the budget
estimate and we will, in fact, be able to resurface one additional
street this budget year.

is a list of streets proposed for
next phase of the program.
You will recall that when the program was proposed, it was pointed out
that we would need some experience before we would know the full impact
on the water and sewer work load and budget. Since that time the
ordinance re]atjn~ to the f~ve year restriction on pavement cutting w~s
passed. In light of this ordinance we feel that it is prudent to
replace all questionable water mains and services, and of course install
other utilities that might be needed within the five year period prior
to the paving.
This work required considerable time and expenditure by the Water Quality
Division and we are now in a position to estimate the cost of these items
in next year's program proposal. The Street Division is capable of
handling approximately $100,000 worth of paving work next year in
addition to their other maintenance duties.
Attached is a list of streets proposed for inclusion in next year's
· program. If the total list is accepted, it is recommended that the
budgets of the Water Quality and Street Divisions be increased to reflect
the costs attributed to installation or replacement of utilities and
storm sewers. If revenue sharing funds were allocated for this utility
work we would only be able to complete the list down to Indiana Street.
