ASHLAND CITY COUNCIL
November 6, 1972
ROLL CALL:
The Special Meeting of the Ashland City' Council was called to
order by Mayor McKeen in the Council Chambers, City Hall, on
the above date at ll:00a.m. Councilman Willstatter was noted
absent; Roble, McCannon, Roberts and Conklin present; Soderberg
arrived moments later.

Conklin then opened the matter for discussion and questioned the
increased cost estimates. City Administrator Almquist explained
that new legislation had created higher federal and state safety
standards and that the larger amount represents a safety valve.
McCannon and Soderberg favored making application for more funds
in the event that future restrictions imposed would bring the
costs in excess of the projected figure. Soderberg stressed that
we should prepare ourselves to have an adeauate amount to follow
all safety standards set down to avoid the possibility of DEQ
prohibiting connects with resultant delays to contractors and
businesses in the city.
Roberts felt that we should build the project as planned for
present needs to keep users fee as low as possible.

City Administrator Almquist were satisfied with the $895,000
figure as adequate that he would rely on their judgment.
Soderberg said she was not proposing the spending of more monies,
but that an adequate amount should be available to complete the
project in the event of costs not anticipated at this time might
appear later.
Roble and Conklin expressed fear that bids would probably go up
in proportion to those funds applied for.
On roll call on above motion, passed unanimously.
Conklin moved to adjourn; seconded by Roberts. On voice vote,
passed unanimously. Meeting adjourned at 12:05 p.m.
