ASHLAND CITY COUNCIL
February 27, 1969
The Common Council of the City of Ashland met in adjourned
session at 5:00 P.M. this date. Mayor McKeen presided.
Councilmen Cottle, Haines, Jones, O'Harra, Roberts and
Willstatter were present.
Members of the Police Department were present and following
introduction of each member, Mayor McKeen presented each member
with a copy of Oath of Office with identification cards attached.
Following this presentation, Mayor McKeen administered the Oath
of Office to the group as a whole and complimented the Department
for the fine record they have established.
City Attorney Skerry presented ordinance amending Sectionl of
Ordinance No. 1573 with regard to the assessment of curb and
paving Ventura Circle, charged to Abbie M. Bewley, located at
759 Park Street. The amended charge is $250° During discussion,
Councilman Jones stated that he had protested originally the
charge against Bewley property was unjust and that no charge
should be made to them. Following further discussion, it was
moved by Haines, seconded by Roberts that the ordinance be
passed to second reading by title only. On roll call, carried
5-1 with Jones dissenting. Following second reading by Attorney
Skerry, it was moved by Haines, seconded by O'Harra that Ordinance
No. 1596 be adopted. On roll call, carried 5-1 with Jones dis-
senting.
It was moved by Haines, seconded by aones that Mayor McKeen's
appointment of William P. Roble as Fire Chief, effective
March 17, 1969, be'confirmed~ On roll call, carried unanimously.
There being no further business, the meeting ad]ourned sub3ect
to the call of the Mayor.
