HomeMy WebLinkAbout1968-0312 SPECIALSPECIAL COUNCLL MEETING March 12~ 1968 The Common Council of the City of Ashland met in ad3ourned ses~ at 12:00 P.M. this date, Councilmen Baker, CotLie, Jones, Rob~ Ward and Whirham were present~ Absent: Mayor Neill. Acting Jones presided. City Attorney Skerry presented Ordinance No. 1555 providing roI call of a city tax base election in the C~ty oz Ashland, Oregot May 28, 1968, £or the purpose of submLtt~ng to the legal voters the City of Ashland, Oregon, the q~est~on of establishing a hey bade for the purpose of applying the l~m~tation on taxdtlon se~ forth in Section 11, Article Xf, Oregon Constltu~on; and decl~ an emergency. Following considerable discussion regarding the contents oE ti~ of the measure which will appear on the baliot~ it was moved b~ Ward, seconded by Roberts that under a suspension of the £ules, Ordinance be passed to second reading by t~ie on~ On roll c carried 5-1, Jones dissenting. Following second reading by Attorney seconded by Cottle that Ordinance No. carried 5-1 with jones dissenting. Skerry, it was moved by B~ 1555 be adopted. On ~ol] At this time, City Adm~nistrator Gary Boshears p£esen~ed a let~ from Arky Lewis~ Manager of the Amezmcan Legion Baseball 'Team, requesting a waiver of the l~cense fee and bond for the Americ~ Legion Baseball Dance to be held at the Ashland Armory, Wednesd evening March 20, 1968, It was mo~zed by CotEle, seconded by W~ that waiver of license and bond be granted. On ~oll call, ca~ unanimously. City Recorder Bartelt presented a Liquor License application, t and Barbara Meister, DBA Buy R~te Market, 1475 S~skiyou Boule~a previously known as Mayfair Market. It was mo'~ed by Ward, sect by Roberts that the application be granted~ On roll call~ carl unanimously.
