HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-0116 ADJOURNED MINADJOURNED COUNCIL MEETING JanUary 16, 1967 The meeting was called to order at 12:00 noon, with Mayor Neill pre- siding. All Councilmen were present. The Ashland Planning Commission was also in attendance. AMENDMENT TO ZONING ORDINANCE: The City Council and Planning Commission considered an amendment to the Zoning Ordinance proposed by the Planning Commission regarding vision clearance and setbacks at intersections and alleys in C-1 zones. There were discussions between the Council and Planning Commission as to the purposes of these requirements. At the conclusion of the discussion, the City Council agreed to re- consider the matter at the continued Public Hearing called for the purpose. DOWNTOWN REVITALIZATION PLAN The City Council, by unanimous motion, accepted the plan from the Central Area Planning Study Steering Committee ("Committee of 50"), and formally referred it to the Planning Commission for study, Public Hearings, and recommendation. At the same time, the City Council instructed the Staff to request of the State Highway Department inclusion in their present five-year program currently being submitted to the legislature for approval, a proposed "C" Street widening project within the downtown plan pro- ject area. Also the City Council instructed the City Administrator to arrange for appropriate display for the downtown plan sketches in the local banks, merchant display windows and other areas. SISKIYOU BOULEVARD IMPROVEMENTS: The City Council received from the Staff a preliminary proposal for improvement on Siskiyou Boulevard form theFire Station to the 66 intersection which provides for widening of the median island to create left turn refuges by providing parking duck-outs between trees in the existing parking strips. A formal report on this subject will be presented at the next regular council meeting. The City Council then, by unanimous vote agreed to postpone the next regular meeting from January 17 to January 24. There being no further business, the Council unanimously agreed to adjourn, subject to the call of the Mayor. RHA:srp
