HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965-0909 ADJOURNEDADJOURNED CUUNCiL MEETING Septembe~ 9, 1965 The Common Council of the City of Ashland met in an adjourned session at 9:10 P.M. this date. Mayor Nelll presided. Councilmen Baker, Cottle, Lewis, Ward and Whitham present. Absent: Councilman Peters. Prior to the meeting, a study session of the Mayor's Capital Development Committee and Council was held to consider alternate plans to finance the downtown central area. Mr. Lloyd Anderson of CH2M was present to answer questions regarding said alternate plans. Due to a back log of applications to the Federal government for this kind of assistance and following a spirited discussion, the committee felt that this delay would jeopardize the value and interest in the proposed study and recommend that plan "A" be adopted although it meant an increase of $11,000.00 to the City. (Copy of four alternate plans attached). Atthe conclusion of discussion, moved by Lewis, seconded by Whitham, that Plan "A" be adopted. Councilman Baker stated that he wasnot in favor of Plan "A" due to increased cost to the City but favored Plan "B". Councilman Cottle stated that he felt that immediate work on the plan should be undertaken and favored Plan "A". Upon roll call, carried 4-1 with Baker dissentmng. City Administrator Ayre was instructed to contact the Federal Bureau of this action and Mr. Anderson was requested to submit the proposal to the group within the next two weeks. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned subject to the call of the Mayor. Recorder sre
