An o~dinance pzoviding fo~ and fixing the salaries and
pensation of elective and appointive officers for the City of
Ashland, Jackson county,
1960 and ending June 30,
Oregon, for the period beginning July 1,
1961, and declaring an emergency.
section 1.
That the appointees to the several offices set forth below
shall during the period from July 1, 1960 to June 30, 1961, re-
ceive a monthly salary in amounts as indicate~bythe figures set
opposite the title of the various appointees as follows, to-wit~

Provided that the Council reserves the right to change b~
ordinance said salaries at any time, and to re~ve any appointee
at any time without assigning any reasons therefor.
Section 2.
That the salary above provided ~or the City Attorney shall
be deemed to cover all City business, including consultations and
preparations of ordinances, keeping to date the co~pilation of
ordinancea, and a11 suits, actions or proceedings before the
County, Circuit or Supreme COurts~ provided further that the City
will reimburse said attorne~ for any actual expense ~ncurred by
him in connection with the legal business of the City.

That the persons hold~ng the elective o£fices set forth below
shall, during the pa~£od of f~m July l, 19~0, to and including
June 30, 1961, receive a monthly salazy in ~mounts as lndicate~
by the figures set opposite the titlee of the several offices
as follows, to-wit:

that the Council reserves the right to
raise or lower said 8aleries by ordinance at any time.
SeCtion 4.
That each City employee, Whether elective or appointive, shall
perform, in addition to the duties prescribed by the Charter, such
further duties incident to his or her office as shall be prescribed
by his depert~ent superior, or the #a~r a~d C~n COUnCil.
Section 5.
That the City Recorder is hereby authorized to pay the saleries
mentioned in this ordinance upon the due performance, of the services
incident to the respective offices and officers mentioned herein,
without bills for said salaries being audited and approved by the
Finance C~ttee, or as otherwise may be prescribed by ordinance.
Section 6.
That each 'full time' City e~ployee, Whether elective or
appointive, shall be entitled to a two weeks~ vacation with pay
upon his having performed IlLs dutien for the City for a period
of one (1) coe~lete year after being es~lOyed and to a two weeks~
vacation with pay for each subsequent full year of service co~q~leted~
such vacation pay shall not be cumulative.
SECTION 7,
That inasmuch as this salary ordinance should be in full
£orce and effect mediately in order that there may be no delay
in the payment of said salaries, it is de~ae~ necessary for the
peace, health and safety of the citizens of the City of Ashland
that an emergency be, ar~ the same is hereby declared to exist,
and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon its
passage by the Council and approval by the Mayor.
