A RESOLUTION TO FORWARD THE NOMINATION OF THE ASHLAND
SKIDMORE-ACADEMY HISTORIC DISTRICT TO THE NATIONAL
REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES TO THE STATE HISTORIC
PRESERVATION OFFICE.
THE CITY OF ASHLAND RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
The Historic Commission has unanimously recommended approval of the Ashland
Skidmore-Academy Historic District to be listed on the National Register of Historic
Places.
The listing of the Ashland Skidmore-Academy Historic District on the National Register
of Historic Places complies with Ashland Comprehensive Plan Policy I-5, which states:
"The Historic Commission shall seek the official designation of important buildings
and districts by national, state and local organizations. The Commission shall assist
the Planning Staff and Planning Commission in exercising appropriate controls on
the external appearance and disposition of such buildings and districts."
SECTION 2.
The City of Ashland resolves as follows:
That the nomination to place the Ashland Skidmore-Academy Historic District on the National
Register of Historic Places be forwarded to the State Historic Preservation Office. The Ashland
City Council recommends that the Ashland Skidmore-Academy Historic District be placed on
the National Register of Historic Places to ensure that this important Ashland area is recognized
for its importance to Ashland's past, and for its contributions to our future.
This resolution was read by title only in accordance with Ashland Municipal Code {}2.04.090
