SUBJECT: Agreement for Greenway Trail Extension Funds
Dear Brian:
Five copies of the agreement between the City and Jackson
County for the Greenway trail extension are enclosed for
signature by Mayor Golden and Paul Nolte. Please send the five
originally signed copies back to me and I will forward them to
the County Administrator's office for processing. When they have
been approved by the Board, an original will be returned for your
files.

AGREEMENT
This agreement is made between Jackson County, a
political subdivision of the State of Oregon, hereinafter called
"County" and the City of Ashland, an Oregon municipal
corporation, hereinafter called "City":
WITNESSETH
County has been awarded federal Intermodal Surface
Transportation Efficiency Act (ISTEA) funds for $871,200 -- 80%
of the estimated costs -- to build a new segment of Bear Creek
Greenway pedestrian/bicycle trail. County will be lead agent in
coordinating construction of the new trail between So. Valley
View Road at Hwy. 99 into Ashland at Nevada Street.
Total project costs are estimated to be $1,088,782.
The City hereby agrees to contribute $100,000 toward matching
funds.
County shall compile accurate cost accounting records
and bill City, in a form acceptable to the City, no more than
once a month for costs incurred on the project.
City authorizes construction of two bridges and trail
over lands owned by the City within the project area. Plans for
two bridges within the city limits must be approved by the City.
In any case of litigation arising out of this contract
between Jackson County and City of Ashland, the prevailing party
to the litigation shall be entitled to reasonable attorney fees.
