Dear Steve:
In 1986 or 1987 Jackson County transferred the surplus
property of the Ashland District Maintenance yard to the City of
Ashland when the new Talent Shop Complex was built. Somehow,
during this transaction the necessary paper work was never
completed. Enclosed is a fully executed Bargain and Sale Deed
conveying this property to the City of Ashland. Please call Dale

BARGAIN AND SALE DEED
Jackson County, Oregon, a political subdivision of the state of Oregon, Grantnr, conveys to the City
of Ashland, Grantee, the following described real property:

Begirming at a point on the southerly side-line of the right-of-way of the Southern Pacific
Company (formerly the Oregon and California Railroad Company), said point being North
61° 09' West 34.5 feet along said right-of-way line from the point of intersection of the west line
of Mountain Avenue with the southerly side-line of said railroad right-of-way; thence North
61009' West along said railroad right-of-way 684.9 feet to the west line of Donation Land Claim
No. 43 in Township 39 South, Range 1 East, of the Willan~ette Meridian in Jackson County,
Oregoa; thence South 0°01' West 11.88 feet; thence South 49059, East 181.5 feet; thence South
42059' East 99.0 feet; thence South 34056, East 381.5 feet, more or less, to the northerly line
of "B" Street extended; thence East 79.9 feet along said northerly line of "B" Street; thence
North 27°30' East 206.4 feet to the point of beginning.
The true consideration for this cnnveyance is non-monetary.

MATERIALS SITUATED THEREON.

WHEREAS, Jackson County owns the following-described real property:

which was not acquired by tax foreclosure and which, together with buildings and
improvements on it, is presently used as the Ashland District Maintenance Yard
for Jackson County, and on said property is situated approximately 5,000 cubic
yards of 3/4" crushed aggregate; and
WHEREAS, at the completion of the new County District Maintenance Yard in
Talent, Oregon, the above-described property will not be needed by the County
for public use; and
WHEREAS, if the property is conveyed to the City of Ashland, it will be used and
continue to be used for public purposes by the City of Ashland; and
WHEREAS, the City of Ashland contemplates accepting, concurrently, the transfer
of jurisdiction of those County roads situated within that city named and
described' in Order No. I~-~? , and both governments wil) receive mutual
benefit by the transfer of responsibility and of property above-described;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Board of Commissioners of Jackson County, Oregon, hereby
ORDERS that:
1. the County relinquish its title to the above-described property to the City
of Ashland, Oregon, pursuant to ORS 271.330, and the Board of Commissioners is
authorized to sign in behalf of the County an appropriate conveyance for that
purpose.

2. upon completion and occupancy of the Talent Maintenance Yard, the County
Administrator is authorized and directed to deliver and record documents trans-
ferring to the City of Ashland the title to the real and personal property
above-described concurrently with the acceptance by the City of Ashland of the
jurisdiction of the County roads above described.

Transfer of County Roads and
Property to the City of Ashland
Gentlemen:
At its meeting of May 6, 1987, the Board of Commissioners approved
Board Order No. 121-87 scheduling a public hearing for June 10, 1987,
at 9:30 a.m. in the Courthouse Auditorium for the purpose of consider-
ing the transfer of several roads to the city of Ashland and for the
purpose of transferring the surplus property of the county's Ashland
District Maintenance Yard, including stock materials, to the city of
Ashland. The roads ares

Barbara Street (Tolman Road to Jaqueline Street)
Diane Street (Tolman Road to Jaqueline Street)
Bast Main Street (Lithia Way to California Street)
Granite Street (North Main Street to 300 feet south of
Marklyn Drive)
Hillview Drive (Siskiyou Boulevard to Peachey Road)
Iowa Street (Mountain Avenue to Wightman Street)
Mary Jane Avenue (Siakiyou Boulevard to southerly intersection of
Mohawk Street)
North Main Street (Ashland Mine Road to 100 feet east)
Oak Street (Bast Main Street to 200 feet north of Nevada Street)
Wlghtman Street (Siaklyou Boulevard to Quincy Street)

Jaqueline Street (130 feet north of Diane Street to 100 feet

Therefore, as an item for the agenda for the Board meeting of
June 10, 1987, attached is an order (Attachment I) surrendering Juris-
diction of the above-named county roads and portions of county roads.
Jackson County offers to surrender Jurisdiction of the above-named
county roads to the city of Ashland, subject to acceptance by the city
of Ashland not later than September 1, 1987.
The second order (Attachment II) orders that the county's Ashland
District Maintenance Yard be deeded to the city of Ashland concurrent

with the city of Ashland accepting jurisdiction of the above-named
roads. The Public Works Director recommends approval of the attached
orders.
It is recommended that the public hearing be held. Following the
public hearing, should the Board of Commissioners desire to transfer
the above-named roads to the city of Ashland along with the county's
Ashland District Maintenance Shop area, approval of the attached orders
will implement that action.
