ORDER
The above matter came on for investigation under
the provisions of Ch~pter 275 of the General Laws of Oregon
for the year 191J, upon the tenth day of ~rch, 1915. As
required by l~w, notice hs.d previously been given to the
railroad and tl~e City of ~shland: of the time and pla. ce of
investi[v~ting the same.

The ps.rties o.ppearing announced their readiness to
proceed ~nd a~ investig~tion ~nd inspection of the proposed
crossing w~,s therm~pon ms. de by the Commission ?nd ~ll pzrties
appearing.
Now on this ~/~ day of March, 1918, this
matter comes on for final determin~tion before the Commission.
The Commission bei~ fully ~dvised finds it ought not to re~uire
the ~roposed crossing to be over or under the present rs~ilro~d
described in the ,~pplic~,tion, ~.nd, therefore gr~.nts the right
~c~d privilege to co~struct such proposed crossing e~t grade.
The permission hereby granted is, however, subject
to revocation for g~d cause, in event it sh~ll hereafter be
deemed necess~ry either to install s~fet2 devices a.t the said
crossing'!~ or to provide ibr ~ sepa. ration o~1:~ grs, des.
The Co~amission re~,ui~'es, as a necessary warning snd
protection of the public~ m~ch grade crossing should be protected
by the installation s. nd maintenance, ~t the crossing, of the
following safety ~levices: standard hi~h'~ay cro~sin~ w'arning
signs, a~d that signals shall be given by whistle, or bell,
~ suitable distance and period of time in advance of crossing
of said high,ray, v~ith any engine or train,
The Commission finds, as just and reasonable, that
the cost of construction and maintenance of said crossing
should be borne by the City oi' Ashland. save that portion
of said highway located between the rails and a distance of
18 inches on the outside thereof, which portion sh~ll be
installed and maintained by the railroad company.
The Commission refers to th~ ~pplic~tion for gre~ter
certainty ~s to the location oi~ the proposed crossing.
