Do you feel it would be advantageous for you to have further training in this field, such as attending
conferences or seminars?
Yes! I have much to learn, e.g., comparative analysis of city charter variations, forms of city' government,
county and states rules and applicable laws.
III. Interests
Why are you applying for this position:
1) To learn more about the present Ashland City Charter, its history of amendments, etc., what changes
have been proposed and why, and, if defeated, why.
2) To apply what I have learned, to consider proposed changes in light of what is most beneficial for the
community of Ashland as a whole.
3) To help inform others of pros/cons of various alternatives, and help them get their viewpoints heard.
4) To participate in an exciting project with people who care passionately about theidmy community (as do
I).
IV. Availability
I am generally available and flexible. I prefer evening meetings.
V. Additional Information
How long have you lived in this community? 1 yr, 6 mos (going on the rest of my life).
Summarize any additional qualifications you have for this position.
I am able to grasp, understand, and communicate highly complex issues and concepts. I strive to study
and ask many questions before arriving at a conclusion or forming an opinion. Yet, I try to avoid "analysis
paralysis" and will work hard to get the job done, and do it well. I alSo have the benefit of a wise
philosopher husband who schools me on political history and philosophy when needed.
