AN ORDINANCE AHENDING ORDINANCE NO. 2052 AND TITLE 18
OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE RELATIVE TO HECHANICAL E0UIPHEN1'o
THE PEOPLE OF ASHLAND DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOHS:
SECTION 1. Section 18.08.020 of the Ashland Municipal Code shall
be amend€~ by adding the following sentence;
"Thi.s definition shall also apply to mechanical equip-
ment as defined in Section 18.08.045."
SECTION 2:. A new Section 18.08.045 shall be added to the Ashland
Municipal Code and shall read as follows:
"18.08.045. Hechanical Equinment. Equipment or devices
installed for a use appurtenant to the primary use. Such
equi.pment shall include heating and air conditionin~
equipment, solar collectors, parabolic antennas, radio
or TV receiving or transmitting antennas, and any p01.ver
gene~rating devices. The following equipment or devices
are exempt:
a. Private, noncommercial radio and television antennas
not exceeding a height of seventy (70) feet above
grade or thirty (30) feet above an existing structure,
whichever height is greater. No part of such antenna
shall be within the yards required by this Chapter.
A building permit shall be required for any antenna,
mast, or tower over fifty (50) feet above grade or
thirty (30) feet above an existing structure when the
same is constructed on the roof of the structure.
b. Parabolic antennas under three (3) feet in diameter
SECTION 3. Section 18.68.140 shall be amended by changing the word
"buildings" to the words "buildings and structures."
SECTION 4.. Section 18.68.140 shall be amended by redesignating the
existing subsection (C) to subsection (D) and inserting a new sub-
section (C) which shall read as follows:
"C. Mechanical Equipment shall be subject to the prov~s~ons
of this Section. Such equipment shall not be located between
the main structure on the site and any street adjacent to a
front or sideyard, and every attempt shall be made to place
such equipment so that it is not visible from adjacent public
streets. Any installation of mechanical equipment shall re-
quire a building permit.

SECTION 5. A new paragraph 4) shall be added to subsection A of
Section 18.72.030 which shall read as follows:
"4) All installations of mechanical equipment as defined in
this Chapter in a nonresidential zone. All such installations
shall not be located between the main structure on the site
and any street adjacent to a front or sideyard, and every
attempt shall be made to place such equipment so that it is
not visible from adjacent public streets. Installations shall
also be subject to the issuance of a building permit."
The foregoing ordinance was first read on the
1984, and duly PASSED and ADOPTED this 7th
17th day of JRnuary,
