ORDINANCE NO. 1730
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINN~CE NO. 1361, THE ZONING
ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ASHLAND, TO REZONE CERTAIN
PROPERTY FROM R-3:l.2 (MULTIPLE-FAMILY RESIDENTIAL) TO
R-l:B-8 (SINGLE-FAMILY RESIDENTIAL), AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission and Common Council have
held Public Hearings on the question of rezoning the hereinafter-
described property; and
WHEREAS, both the Planning Commission and the Common Council
deem it to be in the best interests of the City of Ashland that said
rezoning be permitted;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF ASHLAND DO ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 1361 be, and the same hereby
is, amended to rezone from R-3:l.2, multiple-family residential, to
R-l:B-8, single-family residential, the following-described property
located in the City of Ashland, County of Jackson, State of Oregon,
to-wit:
Lots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and the North 10 feet of Lot 6,
in BESWICK SUBDIVISION, according to the official plat
thereof now of record. In addition to that described
as follows:
Beginning at a point on the Southerly line of
Siskiyou Boulevard in the City of Ashland, Oregon, said
point being located as follows: From the southest
corner of DLC No. 45 in Township 39 South, Range 1
East, of the Willamette Meridian, Jackson County,
Oregon, measure 198 feet west, thence south 9.2 feet
to an intersection with the southerly line of Siskiyou
Boulevard; thence north 55? 15' west along said
southerly line of Siskiyou Boulevard a distance of
216.4 feet as the place of beginning, being a point
also located at the northwest corner of tract sold
by Davis to Margaret Beswick. From said point of
beginning, continue north 560 15' west, as distance
of 291 feet to the east line of the Albert Joy Lane,
thence south a distance of 302 feet; thence south-
easterly parallel with Siskiyou Boulevard a distance
of 291 feet to the southwest corner of said tract sold
by Davis to Margaret Beswick; thence north along said
Beswick tract 302 feet to the southerly line of Siskiyou
Boulevard at the place of beginning.
Beginning at a point 2.98 chains west and 01.4
chains south of the southeast corner of DLC No. 45,
Township 39 South, Range 1 East of the Willamette
Meridian, Jackson County, Oregon; said point being on
the southerly line of a street known as Siskiyou
Boulevard, thence south 182 feet; thence west 180 feet;
thence north 302 feet to an intersection with the
southerly side:line of the boulevard; thence along
the southerly line of Boulevard 560 15' east 216.4 feet
to the place of beginning, containing one acre of land.
SECTION 2. That inasmuch as it is deemed necessary for
the public health, peace and safety of the citizens of the City of
Ashland that the provisions shall be made immediately operative, it
is hereby declared that an emergency exists and this Ordinance shall
be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the Council
and approval by the Mayor.
The foregoing Ordinance was first read at a regular meeting
o~the Common Council of the City of Ashland held on the JO/tt day of
~~/ , 1972, and passed to its second reading and duly
Idopted on the ;;U day of I~ ' 1972, the vote being as
follows: ~
