An ordinance amending Ordinance No. 1389, the Building Code
of the City of Ashland, to amend Section 18, Wood, which provides
for certain limitations on the use of wood on the exterior of
buildings within certain fire zones.

The foregoing ordinance was duly passed, under a suspension
of the rules, at a regular meeting of the Common Council held on

Decorative wood or exterior grade plywood may be applied
to the fascia only of marquees, if applied over a one-hour or
incombustible structure.
(c) In Fire Zone I and II, and where located completely
on and over private property, unenclosed structures providing
cover for malls, walkways or entranceways to building may be
of heavy timber construction. Columns shall be designed to
support the design load of the structure but in no case shall
the nominal dimension be less than 4" x 6".

by wind pressure. This type of structure may be supported

wall of a building. The height of this type structure shall

strued to allow walkways to be covered by a building."
Wood or plywood shall be anchored to the building in
an adequately safe manner, as approved by the Building
Inspector.
All such wood shall be applied directly against~ a fire
wall of at least one-hour fire resistance or as required by
Section 504(b) of the 1967 Edition of the U.B.C.
