A RESOLUTION CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTION ON THE 16TH DAY OF
MAY, 1989, IN THE CITY OF ASHLAND FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING
TO THE LEGAL VOTERS OF THE CITY A MEASURE FOR A THREE YEAR SERIAL
LEVY TO PROVIDE FUNDS EACH OF THREE YEARS FOR THE POLICE
DEPARTMENT FOR ITS OPER1\TIONS, HHICH LEVY HILL BE ASSESSED BEYOND
THAT NOH AUTHORIZED BY ARTICLE XI, SECTION 11, OF THE OREGON
CONSTITUTION.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF ASHLAND AS FOLLOHS:
Section 1. A Special Election is hereby called to be held
in the City of Ashland, Oregon on the 16th day of May, 1989, from
7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., at which Election there shall be
submitted to the legal voters of said City for their adoption or
rejection the following purposed measure, to wit:

AN ACT
CAPTION:
THREE-YEAR OPERATING TAX RATE SERIAL LEVY FOR POLICE
PURPOSES.
QUESTION:
Shall the City of Ashland levy 67 cents per $1,000
assessed value for police operations for the three
years beginning 1990-91?
EXPLANA'l'ION:
This measure would provide monies to maintain police
department staffing and operations at the current
levels. The present three year Police Department
operating levy will expire at the end of the 1989-90
budget year. It is estimated that a levy would provide
$264,618 in 1990-91 and $334,651 in 1991-92, and
$407,836 1992-93.
Section 2. That the City Recorder is hereby requested and
directed to give due notice of such special election hereby
called as provided in the laws of the State of Oregon and the
Charter and Ordinances of the City of Ashland, Oregon.
Section 3. For the purposes of this election, the polling
places shall be as directed by the Jackson County Clerk.
The foregoing Resolution was duly passed at a regular
meeting of the Common Council held on the April 11, 1989, 1989.
