ROLL CALL Councilors Jackson, Silbiger, Amarotico, Hardesty, Hartzell and Chapman were present. I. Adoption of Standards and Criteria to be used in the Evaluation of City Administrator Candidates Councilor Jackson/Hartzell m/s to adopt the Standards and Criteria. Voice Vote: all A YES. Motion passed. Meeting was adjourned at 8:20 a.m. j( /J/ ~ " /~~ Barbara Christensen, City Recorder ~T-- ~ Display Ad for Publication Just copy and paste into the existing template Please refer to PO Number # 72412 Council Special Meeting The Ashland City Council will meet in a Special Meeting for the purpose of adopting standards and criteria to be used in the evaluation of City Administrator candidates: DATE: Friday, March 3, 2006 TIME: 8:00 a.m. LOCATION: Siskiyou Room, 51 Winburn Way A copy of the draft evaluation criteria may be obtained at Ashland City Hall or on the City's website www.ashland.oLus Written comments on the draft criteria may submitted to Ashland City Hall, 20 E. Main Street, prior to the special meeting. Public comments on the draft criteria will also be accepted at the meeting. After adopting the criteria, the Ashland City Council will convene into executive session under ORS 192.660(2)(a). In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, if you need special assistance to participate in this meeting, please contact the City Administrators office at 541488- 6002 (TTY 1 800 735 2900). Notification 72 hrs prior to the meeting will enable the City to make reasonable arrangements to ensure accessibility to the meeting (28 CFR 35.102-35.104 ADA Title I) ~.\, CITY OF ASHLAND ., Ii . EVALUATION CRITERIA CANDIDATE: DIMENSION STRENGTHS WEAKNESSES Vision Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the current trends . and potential trends which are active within the community and a demonstrated ability to assist community leadership to place the community in a position to meet the challenges created by those trends. Experience Demonstrated experience in understanding the complex dynamics, including economic, social and political, which drive a community and using that understanding to focus those dvergent interests into positive community direction. Leadership Presented ideas in a clear and persuasive way; demonstrated that he/she encourages and builds on the contributions of others; demonstrated leadership style which is inclusive, collaborative and action oriented. Demonstrated ability to assert effective control and organize people and resources effectively. Demonstrated understanding of the role of City Administrator in relation to Council, staff and the general public. Finance Demonstrated ability to understand and manage the often conflicting financial pressures of a complex, multi-department public agency. Verbal Communication Utilized active listening skills and demonstrated the ability to "tie" elements together in an understandable format for the panel. SMe Demonstrated team building and team oriented management style. The ability to assess the strengths of employees, and community leaders and to manage in a manner that makes use of and maximizes those strengths.
